La revue Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (ETP) s’engage à promouvoir la transparence, la reproductibilité, la crédibilité et la rigueur en recherche. Pour soutenir cet engagement, nous encourageons les auteurs à préenregistrer leurs protocoles de recherche, à soumettre des études empiriques sous forme de Registered Reports et à participer à nos processus éditoriaux en évolution, tels que les Registered Revisions. En nous appuyant sur des pratiques issues de différentes disciplines, nous proposons des recommandations pour intégrer ces formats dans notre domaine. Nous mettons également à disposition plusieurs ressources afin d’accompagner les auteurs et de répondre aux défis spécifiques liés à ces approches, notamment pour les données secondaires. En adoptant plus largement le modèle des Registered Reports, nous envisageons un futur de la recherche en entrepreneuriat caractérisé par une plus grande crédibilité, reproductibilité, transparence et impact scientifique. Dans cet éditorial, nous lançons un appel à contributions pour un numéro spécial virtuel de l’ETP consacré aux Registered Reports, renforçant ainsi l’engagement historique de la revue en faveur de l’innovation méthodologique.
Le pouvoir de l’humilité exprimée : la réaction des investisseurs en phase d’amorçage face à des entrepreneurs humbles

Résumé de la recherche :
Nous examinons comment l’humilité exprimée par les entrepreneurs influence la volonté des investisseurs en phase d’amorçage de financer de nouvelles entreprises. Dans des contextes de pitch où les investisseurs s’appuient sur des signaux relationnels et des représentations implicites des entrepreneurs, nous identifions trois mécanismes distincts par lesquels l’humilité exprimée façonne les décisions de financement.
Premièrement, en nous appuyant sur des travaux portant sur les signaux interpersonnels dans l’évaluation des projets en phase initiale, nous proposons que l’humilité favorise des perceptions positives en matière de relations interpersonnelles, de confiance et de capacité à constituer une équipe, ce qui augmente la volonté des investisseurs de financer.
Deuxièmement, en nous appuyant sur les théories implicites du leadership, nous soutenons que l’humilité peut également susciter des perceptions négatives concernant la capacité de l’entrepreneur à prendre des décisions rapides et risquées.
À partir d’une analyse vidéo de 140 pitchs réels et d’une expérience randomisée menée auprès d’investisseurs français en phase d’amorçage, nous montrons que l’humilité exprimée active ces deux mécanismes, mais que les investisseurs accordent davantage de poids aux attributions positives.
