STORM - Our expertise
STORM members explore the complex dynamics that shape organizations and their environments. Our research spans the full spectrum of strategy and organization studies -ranging from corporate strategy, governance, and internationalization to institutional change, sustainability transitions, social innovation, and the future of work. We examine phenomena at multiple levels: intra-organizational processes such as leadership, autonomy, identity, and accountability; organizational dynamics including digital transformation, acquisitions, family business, and entrepreneurship; and inter-organizational ecosystems involving business groups, categories, cities, and global value chains.
Whether investigating CEO narcissism and digital innovation, gender diversity on boards, entrepreneurial ecosystems, or the social construction of generative AI, we are united by a commitment to advancing knowledge that is theoretically robust and societally relevant.
Our expertise is defined not only by the breadth of topics we address, but also by our methodological openness. We embrace diverse epistemologies and methods—ethnography, archival and historical research, qualitative case studies, experiments, meta-analyses, large-scale statistical modeling, and simulation—selecting approaches that best illuminate the questions at hand.
This pluralism enables us to tackle grand challenges such as sustainability, inequality, public health crises, and energy transitions, while also contributing to foundational debates in strategic management and organization theory. Across all projects, we share a common standard: rigorous, high-quality research that pushes conceptual boundaries and speaks to both researchers and practitioners.
