“emlyon wanted to focus on the foundations of each and every candidate's profile… they wanted to make sure every candidate’s profile was strong from the very [beginning],” explains Swarun.
He highlights the importance of mastering the details: “Every country has a different set of expectations, from what a resume should look like, how a LinkedIn profile should look, and how you should present yourself,” he says. “These were all the small things… the important things that might help you land a perfect job opportunity.”

Top sectors include consulting (17%), finance (17%), sales & business development (15%), marketing (12%), and supply chain/logistics (4%).
63% of graduates begin their careers in France. Others move to China, Switzerland, the U.K., or the U.S. Common roles include consultant, M&A analyst, business developer, and sales manager.
How International Students Break Into the French Job Market
After graduating, Swarun joined DimoMaint in Paris as U.K. & Ireland Account Manager. Even with limited French, he found opportunities in France aligned with his profile.
“Most of the multinational companies in France, especially those based in Paris, look for people who speak English... comparatively, the job competition is higher,” he explains. “If you’re new to speaking French and you’re only looking for English-speaking jobs, I would suggest you look for SMB companies with 200 people or less and companies whose target customers are outside of France.”
Many emlyon graduates follow similar paths, joining Deloitte, BNP Paribas, McKinsey, L’Oréal, and other major employers.
emlyon gives students access to demanding roles, but success requires commitment and preparation. “You have to make sure that you prepare yourself in terms of aptitude, reasoning, role play, and culture fit,” says Swarun. “You have to tick every check box for you to get this opportunity.” Armed with a respected degree, strong professional connections, and hands‑on learning, graduates step into the job market with the skills and clarity they need to secure the opportunities they aim for.
