A master’s degree offers several benefits: it can enhance your career prospects, provide greater job security, help increase your salary, open up new opportunities, and make you more attractive to potential employers.
There are several types of master’s degrees available (emlyon does not offer all of them), including the Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Engineering (MEng), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Master of Philosophy (MPhil), among others.
The main difference lies in the academic degree:
- The master's degree is a national higher education diploma recognized by the state, equivalent to five years of higher education, which confers the title of master. It can be professional (oriented towards employment) or research-oriented (preparing for a doctorate).
- The master's degree, offered by certain schools (e.g., the Advanced Master's® from emlyon), is not a national degree but a certifying title. It is intended for graduates with five or four years of higher education and experience, to acquire specialized expertise.
