emlyon business school offers two types of Master’s-level (Bac+5) programs:

  • Master’s Degrees (Grade de Master): diplomas accredited and supervised by the French State (CEFDG), awarding the Master’s degree
  • Masters of Science (MSc): specialized programs offered by the school, accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE), and designed to provide advanced expertise in specific fields

Master’s programs

emlyon business school’s Master's programs award an officially recognized Master’s degree accredited by the French State. They provide high-level education that combines academic knowledge with hands-on experience in key areas such as management, marketing, data, strategy, finance and sports.

Designed to be completed in 12 to 24 months, these programs are taught entirely in English.

Admission to our Masters programs

Admission unfolds as per the following

  • Your application and test results will be reviewed by the admission jury of the program you are applying to, and results will be forwarded to your personal account.

1.Application

 

You need to send your application form along with your supporting documents. The mandatory documents vary from program to program. For more information, visit the program page.

2.Digital tests

 

Digital tests last between 1h and 1h30, and include cognitive exercises, motivational questions and/or a professional situation.

FAQ

A master’s program is a graduate or postgraduate degree program that students pursue after completing a bachelor’s degree. It provides advanced knowledge and specialized skills in a chosen field, typically lasting one to two years.

emlyon offers Grade Master programs evaluated by CEFDG (French business schools accreditation commission) and State-controlled. These diplomas are authorized to confer the Master degree grade, providing the same academic recognition as university Master's degrees.

 

A master’s program typically lasts one to two years of full-time study, though the exact duration can vary depending on the country, field of study, and whether it’s completed full-time or part-time.

 

To apply for a Master's program or Master of Science program at emlyon, the student must follow the following requirements:

Step 1: Your application file

Mandatory documents

  • A resume / CV
  • A copy of an official, valid identity card or passport
  • A certified copy of all degrees obtained in a higher education institution (in English or French)
  • A copy of your enrollment certificate for applicants currently enrolled in higher education
  • A certified copy of your transcripts from the first year of your undergraduate education until now

Other documents

  • An official management aptitude test score (mandatory for the Master in Management - Grande Ecole program ; optional but highly encouraged for Master’s programs)
  • An official, valid English proficiency test (mandatory for Master’s programs including the MiM ; optional for MSc programs)
  • Recommendation and motivation letters are highly encouraged

Step 2: Your digital tests

Once your online application file is complete and checked by the Admissions team, you will be invited to take a series of digital linked to the program you are applying to. These tests may include cognitive assessments, professional role-playing exercises, multiple-choice questions, video and/or written questions depending on the program.

A master’s degree offers several benefits: it can enhance your career prospects, provide greater job security, help increase your salary, open up new opportunities, and make you more attractive to potential employers.

 

There are several types of master’s degrees available (emlyon does not offer all of them), including the Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Engineering (MEng), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Master of Philosophy (MPhil), among others.

 

The main difference lies in the academic degree: 

  • The master's degree is a national higher education diploma recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space to award a recognized Bac+5 level (Master’s grade) to its students. To obtain it, students must earn 120 ECTS credits after completing an undergraduate degree (national bachelor's degree, conferring 180 ECTS credits). 
  • A Master of Science (MSc) is a degree awarded by management or engineering schools and recognized by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles (CGE). These programs, which are accessible after a Bachelor's degree, focus on specialization and international exposure. Often taught in English, this institutional degree allows French and international students to acquire a high-level education and aim for internationally-oriented companies.
