We live in a world saturated by data, disrupted by climate change, and shaped by global inequalities, yet we remain largely unprepared to face these challenges.

The emlyon Ethnography Institute develops cutting-edge programs that help our students understand the world surrounding them and make sense of these challenges through a human-centered and people-powered approach to management. We equip with skills that traditional business courses often overlook, with a focus on:

  • Entrepreneurs, who cultivate skills that algorithms cannot provide, including curiosity, creativity, and ethical awareness.

  • Managers, who ask the right questions, think critically, and harness technology to help build a better future.

  • Leaders, who understand their team, navigate sociocultural subtilities, and promote integrity through responsible leadership.

The Institute also provides resources and support to the next generation of organizational ethnographers by workshops held at emlyon or partners institutions, including The Ethnoworkshop (with Esade Business School; Cardiff University, VU Amsterdam), the Negociated Criminality Workshop (With St. Gallen University), or Housing, Criminality and Illegality workshop (With the Geneva Graduate Institute).
