How companies support emlyon's policy of social openness

  • Company news

emlyon business school is committed to creating a supportive and benevolent environment for all students, regardless of their origin, in order to support their personal and academic development and promote access to quality education. Through its policy of social inclusion, the school develops actions in favor of equal opportunities, facilitates the inclusion of students with disabilities and deploys many initiatives aimed at preventing and training its students and participants regarding social issues.
The involvement of companies plays an essential role in achieving these objectives, in particular through the payment of scholarships or directing of their apprenticeship tax to emlyon.

The social inclusion policy at emlyon

emlyon business school's social policy is rooted in a vision of inclusion and equal opportunities. Through various social opening programs, such as la toile or the Cordées de la Réussite, the School works to offer opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds, with an emphasis on supporting students with disabilities and those from priority neighborhoods.

emlyon business school is also committed to developing access to apprenticeships and has opened an internal CFA in 2020. This model is proving to be a powerful lever for the financing of studies and direct access to employment. Five programs are currently offered via one-year apprenticeship contracts, and in 2024, 500 apprentices were following their work-study program. By collaborating with companies that recruit apprentices or support its social outreach programs, emlyon strengthens its commitment and broadens its social impact.

The apprenticeship tax: essential funding for social programs

The apprenticeship tax represents an important source of funding for many educational institutions, including emlyon. By directing part of their tax to the school, companies contribute directly to initiatives that promote the integration and professional development of its students and participants. For example, the apprenticeship tax makes it possible to finance social opening programs such as la toile. Launched in 2021, it is a free and certifying training program for people who are not employed, offering a opening to careers in the digital sector. Since its launch, more than 600 people have been able to benefit from it free of charge thanks to the commitment of companies.

Scholarships: promoting equity and excellence

Every year, emlyon business school collaborates with companies and foundations as part of sponsorship and partnership programs to accompany and support students by offering them scholarships or mentoring programs, through the emlyon Foundation. The ambition is to enable young people with modest potential to obtain a high-level education, and thus employability that matches their abilities and the needs of the market.

Scholarships can take many forms and support multiple causes. Every year, Banque Populaire Aura and bioMérieux grants the "Bourses de Vie" to students: these scholarships support emlyon students in their daily lives and student life (rent, computer equipment, meals, travel, etc.). Capgemini Invent awards "Disability & Fragile Health Scholarships", thus making it possible to meet the specific needs of students with disabilities. This aid is intended to cover part of the living expenses increased by the disability as well as to provide mobility assistance to facilitate travel, both on a daily basis and during internships abroad.

Sanofi, through its Sanofi NextGen Scholarship program, is also committed to supporting students from various backgrounds through the payment of several scholarships per year. This program aims to promote the integration of students from all diversities into health-related scientific courses.

The School, thanks to its programs dedicated to high-level athletes, makes it possible to combine sports and academic performance. Here again, our partner companies support us, in particular Engie and the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône,  which award living grants to our High-Level Athletes students. The beneficiaries are part of the initial training programs, within the Global BBA and the Grande Ecole Program, and in executive training, in the Executive Master General Management and Executive MBA programs. These scholarships offer them the opportunity to continue their studies and train professionally in various disciplines such as tennis, fencing, basketball, rowing and kayaking.

Benefiting from the support of companies is key: they can mobilize significant and multi-year resources, which is a catalyst for impact in the service of the general interest. And real security for our students, throughout their studies.

The support of companies is essential to achieving emlyon business school's ambitions in terms of social policies. By investing in education and support for students in need, companies not only contribute to the training of the next generation of professionals, but they also have a significant impact on equal opportunities and inclusion. This collaboration creates an environment where every student can thrive, regardless of background, ability, or background.
