CSR Charter: emlyon's student associations reaffirm their commitment

  • News

The student associations of emlyon business school reaffirm their commitment with the signing of the CSR Charter, a shared and structured framework guiding their actions throughout the year. This edition also marks the integration of the new Global BBA associations, reflecting a collective effort to strengthen the positive impact of their various activities and events.

Renewal of the CSR Charter: a student-led movement for social and sustainable transition

All emlyon business school student associations, 32 from Master in Management - Grande École (MiM) and and 10 from Global BBA (GBBA) have renewed their commitment by signing the CSR charter dedicated to community life. Previously adopted and co-developed by students and the School’s Management, this agreement aims to guide the decisions and actions of the signatory associations for the year 2026.
As a Mission-driven company, emlyon places social and environmental commitment at the heart of all its activities, including education, research, and operations.

The School therefore supports and encourages student associations in this initiative through a collaborative project that formalizes a framework for ecological and social transition. Associations which are committed to measuring their impact are invited to follow key rules defined in the CSR charter:

  • Implement measures to improve their environmental and social impact and present these actions in their annual reports.

  • Carry out a carbon audit of their biggest event or activity over the year

  • Obtain the Ecollab label from NOISE emlyon for at least one major event.

  • Adopt measures to reduce emissions

  • Take part in a “2 Tonnes” workshop and the ‘Diversity and Inclusion in Associative Life’ training course for presidents, vice-presidents or CSR managers of offices

The renewal of this charter reflects the conviction and seriousness of our students' commitments. Everyone has come together to co-construct this initiative, fostering a student life that is fulfilling, fair, supportive, and respectful of the planet—fully aligned with our status as a Mission-driven company.

Following the official signing, the event also provided an opportunity to review key progress made in the previous year:

  • 100% of associations conducted a CSR report

  • 85% completed the Diversity & Inclusion training and participated in a “2 Tonnes” workshop

  • 64% obtained the Noise Ecollab label

  • 55% participated in a “2 Tonnes” workshop

In addition, good practices and initiatives already implemented by some associations were highlighted to inspire further action among their peers, such as:

  • Inclusion of international students: BDI welcomed a non‑French‑speaking international student into its board, alongside five international members ; Verbat’em created a new role dedicated to international relations.

  • Recycling and respect for nature: Raid Hannibal crafted 250 medals at the makers’ lab by reusing wood scraps ; the Ski Club produced a guide outlining responsible behavior in mountain environments.

  • Inclusion of people with disabilities: Lux’em implemented an Inclusion Charter for individuals with disabilities

This renewal reflects the commitment of newly elected student association boards to sustain and strengthen the initiatives launched by their predecessors. Among the various commitments made by CSR managers, a few examples illustrate the diversity of fields in which associations are involved: creation of an event to raise awareness of digital pollution by PLUG AND PLAY, organizing a Vegetarian Day by NOISE, Les Gourmets and Viatik, common goals such as reducing event waste, developing partnerships with local and sustainable producers, encouraging the use of eco-friendly transport, and promoting inclusivity awareness

The GBBA expands its student life with two new associations

For this new signing, two additional student associations from the GBBA are joining the initiative. After a transitional year in 2024, marked by a campus relocation, a process to renew and strengthen associative life was launched in 2025 by the Program Management, the Student Life and Associative Life Division, and a dedicated task force.

They now join the School’s existing 27 MiM associations, 4 PGE collectives, and 8 GBBA associations, covering a wide range of missions and fields:

  • em’look: promoting and uniting the student community around fashion

  • Captur’em: capturing key moments of student life through photos and videos

Furthermore, this signing aligns with the beginning of the 2025 academic year, marked by the launch of newly elected association mandates. These associations benefit from a dedicated pathway implemented as part of the School’s awareness and prevention initiatives, ensuring a fulfilling associative environment.

In addition to strengthening relationships with student associations and corporate councils, emlyon recently launched the Student Advisory Board: a consultative committee of students responsible for representing program voices, contributing to the School's strategic directions, and promoting its mission. Announced in the School’s 2030 strategic roadmap, this body illustrates emlyon’s ambition to guarantee the best possible student experience.
