Student Advisory Board: Students’ voice at the heart of strategy

  • News

emlyon business school has created the Student Advisory Board (SAB), a consultative committee composed of elected students, tasked with representing program voices, contributing to key decisions, and promoting the School’s mission. Closely connected to governance bodies, this committee serves the student community by enhancing experience and fostering social and environmental engagement.

A body to represent, contribute to, and promote the School’s mission and strategy

To strengthen student participation in institutional life, emlyon is launching the Student Advisory Board, a committee of eight elected members and eight alternates proportionally representing initial education programs: Master in Management - Grande École (MiM), Global BBA (GBBA), Master of Science (MSc), and Advanced Master (AM). The SAB aims to help the School deliver its vision across three priority areas:

  • International: welcoming and integrating international students; coordinating academic mobility and learning pathways…

  • Student experience: quality of information and interactions, campus life and services (catering, sports, digital environment), accessibility…

  • Mission: integrating social and environmental issues into courses and experiential projects; diversity and inclusion; environmental protection and mobility on campus…

The committee meets monthly and regularly interacts with the School’s decision-making bodies: the Executive Committee, the Mission Committee, the Supervisory Board and its CSR division, as well as student bodies depending on the topics addressed.

The members of the Student Advisory Board reflect the diversity of emlyon’s programs: students from different courses, with international profiles and varied experiences. Their commitment is driven by a shared goal: to represent the student voice and actively contribute to the School’s evolution. Their motivations converge around co‑construction with the leadership, turning ideas into concrete actions to sustainably improve student life. Two priority themes stand out: student experience, seen as essential for well-being, academic success, and a sense of belonging; and internationalization, considered strategic for integrating international students and enhancing the School’s global reputation.

Some also emphasize mission and inclusion, notably welcoming students with disabilities and raising awareness of social issues. All express strong expectations: that the SAB will be a lever for listening and action, influencing decisions and optimizing campus life. The first meeting with Executive Committee confirmed this ambition, marked by open dialogue and a genuine willingness to co-create projects with members.

A unique initiative supporting emlyon’s ambition for the best student experience

The creation of the SAB is part of the emlyon 2030 roadmap, echoing the School’s ambitions in internationalization, student experience, and societal impact. By involving program representatives in governance bodies, emlyon promotes a model of listening and co-construction, aligned with its status as a Mission-driven company and its CSR commitments.
