emlyon & Institut Lyfe: a partnership symbolized by two locations at the School

  • Press releases

emlyon business school and Institut Lyfe have joined forces to open La Table brasserie and L’Atelier bakery, both open to the public and located in the heart of the management school’s new campus. A result of the successful partnership between the two institutions, these new training and eating establishments reflect a shared desire to offer exceptional training to their students while remaining closely connected to the city.

Institut Lyfe, an international benchmark for training in management in the culinary arts, pastry, and hospitality and restaurant sectors, has launched two establishments in the heart of the emlyon business school campus, open to students, teachers, campus staff and the general public:

  • La Table brasserie seats 80 people inside and an additional 70 customers on its terrace. The menu features Mediterranean-inspired locally sourced gourmet cuisine, with convivial sharing dishes such as Labneh, Carrot and Za’atar or Smoked Stracciatella. Specialties such as the Cacio e Pepe Tagliatelle will delight pasta lovers, and the constantly evolving menu is guaranteed to please.

  • Nearby, L’Atelier bakery offers a snack menu, including sweet and savory creations dreamed up by the chefs at Institut Lyfe, ranging from breads, pastries, sandwiches and snacks, to pastries and other delicacies.

These two establishments have been designed to provide a practical environment for experimentation and learning, where talented young people will be trained in the restaurant, culinary arts and pastry professions. These applied learning environments are as busily staffed in the kitchen as on the floor by students from the various Bachelor’s degrees at Institut Lyfe. This hands-on professional experience, supervised by their instructors, sees them all working together to deliver locally sourced, sustainable gourmet cuisine.

A shared desire to strengthen collaboration between the two schools and deepen the connection to the city

Establishing Institut Lyfe’s training restaurant and bakery in the heart of the emlyon business school campus builds on the existing partnership between the two institutions. Since 2014, Institut Lyfe and emlyon business school have been offering a joint Master’s program to students looking to specialize in Hospitality Management. With a truly strategic international dimension, offering students the opportunity to study in three key cities in France and the United States, the MSc in International Hospitality Management, certified by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, trains world leaders in the sector. This program is based on a shared vision of experiential learning, combining the “makers” DNA of emlyon and the application excellence of Institut Lyfe, promoting the hybridization of knowledge.

The launch of the restaurant and bakery also testifies to the desire to promote openness to the city and connection to the ecosystem of the Gerland neighborhood. In addition, the aim is to encourage interaction and synergies between students from the two institutions.

This new venture reflects our new campus: designed to offer the best experience to our students and resolutely open to the city. We are proud to strengthen our ties with Institut Lyfe, with whom we share academic standards and an educational approach based on active learning and experimentation. This partnership also exemplifies the hybridization of knowledge, which is at the heart of our School’s strategic vision to train future professionals capable of transforming organizations.

The opening of La Table and L’Atelier in the heart of the emlyon campus fully embodies our mission: to train a new generation of committed, expert and creative managers through experiential learning. These venues are much more than just places to eat; they are living laboratories of learning and innovation, where our students develop their skills in real-life conditions, serving the public and mindful of the challenges of sustainability and excellence.
