emlyon and INSA Lyon strengthen their partnership with the creation of a joint Engineering–Management double degree
emlyon business school and INSA Lyon are taking a new step in their collaboration by officially launching a joint Engineering–Management double degree. Starting in the 2026–2027 academic year, this program will train hybrid profiles capable of combining scientific expertise with managerial skills, in response to the transformations affecting organizations and industry.
A double degree to train tomorrow’s engineer‑managers
The two higher education institutions, emlyon business school and INSA Lyon, are strengthening their partnership through the creation of a high‑level Engineering–Management double degree. In line with the skills hybridisation approach that underpins the School’s Résonances strategic plan, the programme brings together two key disciplinary verticals whose complementarity prepares students to communicate effectively and to bridge technical expertise with managerial vision.
This double degree is based on a system of reciprocal academic mobility: after completing their Master 1, students from emlyon’s Master in Management - Grande École join INSA Lyon in the 4th year — within the computer science, industrial engineering or telecommunications departments — to complete the engineering degree over two years. Conversely, INSA Lyon engineering students join emlyon after their 4th year to complete the Master in Management in one year. Ten places are offered each year in each institution, ensuring individualised support and high academic standards.
The joint programme is aimed at students wishing to combine scientific mastery with managerial competencies, enabling them to play an active role in organisational transformation. It opens access to strategic and cross‑functional roles in industry, consulting, innovation and complex project management.
A partnership illustrating emlyon’s commitment to diversifying fields of knowledge complementary to management
The hybridisation of knowledge lies at the heart of emlyon’s teaching model. The School seeks to train students capable of connecting disciplines, crossing perspectives, and mobilizing cutting‑edge scientific knowledge produced by its Faculty to better understand and transform organizations. This approach, combining academic rigor, critical thinking and experimentation, aims to enrich learning pathways by integrating management, technology, arts, political sciences, and more, in line with emlyon’s ambition to address contemporary global challenges.
In this context, the School is developing increasingly robust hybridization initiatives: the expansion of double and triple degrees, diversified academic partnerships, and collaborations with institutions such as the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts, the Institute of Advanced Studies of the Ministry of the Interior, and the Diplomatic and Consular Academy. These partnerships help broaden students’ academic exposure beyond management alone.
This ambition is fully embodied within the CHELS network, which brings together several institutions in the Lyon area, including emlyon and INSA Lyon, and stands as a flagship example of interdisciplinary cooperation designed to enrich learning experiences, pool expertise, and offer students truly transversal academic pathways.
As part of its 2030 roadmap, emlyon is taking a further step toward greater multidisciplinarity with the creation of its Tech school, designed to support the emergence of new tech‑related professions shaped by profound technological shifts. This initiative is complemented by two strategic priorities: developing the management of risk vertical and strengthening emlyon’s international reach.
