In 2026, the QS World University Rankings by Subject once again place emlyon business school among the world’s leading higher education institutions, ranking it 4th among French business schools in the fields of management and social sciences.
International academic recognition in the management sciences
In the 2026 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, emlyon business school confirms its position among the top-ranked universities worldwide. Ranked in one of the five broad academic subject areas – Social Sciences and Management – the School stands out by consistently ranking among the top four French business schools across five disciplines.
Social Sciences and Management (broad subject): emlyon ranks 205th worldwide, up 16 places compared with 2025. The School is positioned as the 9th French institution and the 4th French business school, further strengthening its status as a national reference in the management sciences.
Business & Management Studies: emlyon reaches 64th place worldwide, gaining 12 positions in one year, and ranks as the 5th French school and 4th French business school.
Marketing: emlyon enters the global Top 50, ranking 49th worldwide, after being placed in the 51–100 band in the previous edition. The School thus ranks as the 5th French institution and 4th French business school in this key discipline.
These results provide further evidence of the quality, impact and international visibility of emlyon’s Research, recognized both by the academic community and by employers worldwide.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are based on the analysis of more than 1,900 institutions worldwide and cover 55 disciplines grouped into five broad subject areas.
The rankings are built using several indicators:

Employer Reputation (20–30%)
Research citations per paper (7.5–20%)
H-index citations (7.5–20%)
