Donations may be directed toward the four programs funded by the emlyon Foundation, or made as “unrestricted gifts.” In this case, contributions are allocated to the most urgent needs identified.

Cash donations: your financial gift directly supports the Foundation’s programs

Inkind donations: you contribute goods or services

Skills-based sponsorship: you make employees available to support our actions

Legacy giving: including bequests, donations, and life insurance policies.

Tax Benefits

Whether you reside in France, elsewhere in Europe, the United States, or Hong Kong, you may benefit from the tax deductions available in your country of residence.

If You Live Abroad

Twentyfive percent of emlyon graduates work or live outside France, mainly in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

To make international giving easier, the emlyon Foundation enables you to benefit from the mechanisms developed by the Fondation de France, as well as the tax regulations specific to each country.

Did you know? As a taxpayer living abroad, you can make donations to the emlyon Foundation that are deductible from your IFI (French real estate wealth tax).
The Impôt sur la Fortune Immobilière (IFI) applies to non-residents who own real estate in France. For tax purposes, a non-resident is someone who does not meet any of the criteria for tax residence in France. These criteria include: principal place of residence, primary place of professional activity, or center of economic interests. Nationality is not a criterion. For non-residents, only net real estate assets located in France and exceeding €1.3 million are subject to IFI.

IFI is declared at the same time as income tax. For non-residents, the procedure may vary depending on tax treaties between France and the country of residence. French non-resident taxpayers must therefore file a specific IFI return. The online filing deadline is set for May 21, 2026.

Conditions to benefit from the IFI tax reduction if you live abroad:
  • Tax residence status in France: To be eligible for IFI tax reductions, it is essential to retain a tax connection with France, even if you live abroad. In other words, you must be considered a French taxpayer if you own net real estate assets exceeding €1.3 million located in France.
  • Donations to public-interest organizations: Donations must be made to public-interest organizations recognized by the French tax authorities, such as the emlyon Foundation under the aegis of the Fondation de France.
  • Compliance with caps: As for any taxpayer, tax reductions are subject to limits depending on your assets and the amount donated. You can reduce your IFI by up to €50,000, which corresponds to a maximum donation of €66,667.

The emlyon Foundation is eligible for Transnational Giving Europe (TGE), a network of partner foundations that allows you to benefit from the tax deductions available in your country of residence.

You can take advantage of this mechanism if you live in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, or Belgium.
