Presentation

This program is designed for students with at least a 3-year Bachelor’s degree who aim to support business performance and strategy through strong command of data and digital tools. Its cross-functional approach combines core knowledge in finance, strategy, and data, enabling students to apply their learning through hands-on projects, corporate challenges, and two internship periods.
 
You will develop both technical and interpersonal skills through active learning methods based on collaboration and real-world problem solving. By the end of the program, you will be equipped to analyze financial and operational data, make strategic recommendations, and manage business performance.

Program

The Master of Science in Financial & Business Performance offered by emlyon business school is accessible in two formats :

  • 2-year program, for students with at least a 3-year Bachelor's degree
  • 1-year program, for students with at least a 4-year Bachelor's degree

The MSc in Financial & Business Performance designed by emlyon business school is based on a strong belief that finance is the best ally and the necessary counter balance in strategic business decisions to ensure a sustainable development of the company.  

The MSc in Financial & Business Performance is built on 3 pillars :

In this program you will acquire strong technical skills in these 3 fields in order to be able to collect, analyze and present business and financial data for the board to make strategic decisions and proper follow the impact of their decision.

You will also be trained to crucial soft skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and team work in order to become a real partner of the business.

An optional internship (maximum 6 months) is possible during the first year of the MSc in Financial & Business Performance.
The professional experience is an excellent opportunity to put your academic knowledge to the test and gain.

Study Trip

This is an opportunity for you to discover another culture and have courses in a prestigious university outside of France. You will be confronted to a new international business environment where you will complete your technological acculturation.

A minimum 4 week immersion in a partner university either in Europe or in North America.

Professional mission

The mandatory internship (minimum 4 months) or professional experience (fixed term, full-time job...) is a great opportunity to put your academic knowledge to the test and acquire tangible experience within the industry.

Master dissertation

The master dissertation is an analytical work on a topic related to the industry and to the professional experience gained during your internship. This is a great opportunity for you to research a subject which is not only of particular interest, but which has the potential to contribute powerfully related to your experience personal and professional development.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods may include case studies, presentations, mock exercises, tests, etc.

Admission

Are you eligible ? 

Students holding at minimum one of the following degrees can apply to the MSc in Financial & Business Performance:

✔️ Admission in Year 1: 3-year Bachelor's degree
✔️ Admission in Year 2: 4-year Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree


You can apply while being enrolled in the last year of the degree that makes you eligible for this program.
For a direct entry in Year 2, depending on the student background, a preparatory on-line module may be required before starting the courses on the campus in September.

Application deadline: emlyon business school may close applications earlier than July 2026, if all the seats in the class are filled, as it happens every year for many of our Master programs. Consequently, we do advise students to apply as early as possible to ensure they secure a seat in the program and maximize their chances!

Mandatory documents - all the documents provided need to be in English or French (except passport and identity card):

  • A resume
  • A copy of an official valid identity card or passport
  • A certified copy of your most recent academic degree
  • A proof of enrolment statement for applicants currently enrolled in higher education
  • A certified copy of your transcripts from the first year of your undergraduate education until now

 

Optional documents:

  • An official management aptitude test score: GMAT, GMAT online, GRE, TAGE MAGE, CAT
  • An English proficiency test: TOEFL iBT, TOEIC, IELTS, Cambridge
  • Recommendation letters

 

We kindly remind you that:

  • GMAT and GRE tests are valid for 5 years
  • TAGE MAGE tests are valid for 2 years
  • CAT tests are valid for 1 year
  • English tests are valid for 2 years


Expected english level

A good level of English is paramount to succeed in the program. We recommend that students apply only if they have a level of English equivalent to the C1 level.
C1 corresponds to a level of experienced user (autonomous level). This means that you can understand long, demanding texts and grasp implicit meanings. Express yourself spontaneously and fluently without much searching for words. 


Application fee

The application fee for the 2026 intake is set at €120, payable directly by credit card through the online application system.

  • Studends with a French CROUS grant are exempted from paying the application fee if they provide the final notice of allocation of this grant for the current academic year.
  • High Level Athletes are also exempted from paying the application fee if they provide a sport resume validated by the director of the Sports department at emlyon business school. If this is your case, please contact Mr Mickaël ROMEZY: romezy@em-lyon.com.

emlyon business school uses a selection process which is in line with today's digital landscape and the practices of major international companies in their search for new talents.

Once your online application file is completed, you will be asked to go through the digital tests. Some key information:

  • 1:30 hours long test
  • To be done on a computer with a working webcam and a stable wifi connection
  • Test includes cognitive exercices, motivation questions and professional role-play in a company setting
  • Take the test alone in a quiet environment
  • Test can only be taken once

The admissions board will review your application and your digital tests. You will receive an email as soon as possible to inform you that your results are available on your makersboard.

To complete your enrollment and secure your place in the program, you will have 10 calendar days after your admission results to sign the enrollment form on your makersboard and pay the non-refundable tuition deposit of €4,500.

Tuition fees

2-year course (entry in Y1): €38,500

The financing of tuition fees over two years breaks down as follows:

  • Year 1 (Y1): €13,750
  • Year 2 (Y2): €24,750

The tuition fees indicated above are valid for 2026-2027 academic year.

  • Individual Scholarship
    Open to all admitted candidates, regardless of their financial background. This scholarship considers a combination of factors such as academic excellence, diversity, and motivation. Applicants must submit the scholarship request form as part of their application file.
     
  • Excellence Scholarship
    Merit-based awarded for strong academic profiles:
    10% scholarship for GMAT 700+ / GMAT Focus 645+ / GRE or Tage Mage equivalent
    5% scholarship for GMAT 650+ / GMAT Focus 595+ / GRE or Tage Mage equivalent
    Test scores can be submitted after admission, within a set deadline.
     
  • Early Bird Scholarship
    A 10% tuition reduction for candidates who apply during the first application session.
