emlyon’s Executive Education ranks 21st worldwide in the Financial Times 2022 Executive Education Ranking, moving up 15 places as compared to the previous ranking issued in 2020. This ranking is the result of a combination of the open program ranking (short programs): #41st worldwide, that is a 23-place jump the custom program ranking (customized programs): #16th worldwide Results are notably based on a survey of the participants of short programs (course preparation quality, course design, pedagogical methods and techniques, quality of the Faculty, of participants, of the teachings and the new skills acquired, participant follow-up, meeting the participants’ objectives, overall satisfaction) and on a survey of the school (% of international participants, programs’ growth, international localization, number of academic partnerships, % of international professors). This appointment occurs as the scientific world is agreeing on the entry of a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene. It is characterized by the dawn of human activities as the main force for changes on Earth. This is the context in which, for the first time, six of the nine planetary boundaries (which mark off a safe zone in which humanity can thrive) were crossed. In the face of such dramatic perspectives, the Anthropocene provides a theoretical and operational framework allowing to anchor the pedagogical initiatives of the School in both a holistic and pragmatic approach. Beyond the numerous projects and initiatives already started, there are two particularly emblematic examples of the pedagogical ambitions emlyon is channeling: “Conclusive conferences” gathering up a floor of teacher-researchers and reflexive corporate executives, will be open to emlyon students and alumni. The objective will be to cross point of views by assuming a multidisciplinary perspective, to shed an up-to-date light on the challenges organizations need to face in the Anthropocene context. “Conversations in the Anthropocene” will be the second original pedagogical journey. Nurtured by the experience and the reflexivity of corporate executives facing the new challenges associated with the Anthropocene context, they will provide students with a practical application of gained conceptual knowledge via full immersion in real-life situations. The role of the Associate Dean to Pedagogy is to make sure that the pedagogy does include the unprecedented question of the habitability of the planet in all its dimensions.” For Thomas Gauthier, Associate Dean to the Anthropocene Pedagogy of emlyon business school: “Traditional avenues, too timid and partitioned, no longer allow to anticipate and prepare for the structural transformations, sometimes brutal ones but mainly rarely foreseeable, of the bio- socio-economic system. I am candidly hoping I can contribute to make business schools a calling for people thriving for knowledge and practice. Not a calling to take care of people - like you would when studying medicine-, but a calling to take care of the world.”
The Financial Times has revealed its annual ranking for the top 100 Executive MBAs (EMBAs) for 2019.
emlyon business school is continuing to make progress, moving up 8 places to 55th worldwide (from 63rd in 2018). The school had achieved a superb result last year, moving up 22 places. It’s worth underlining the fact that the emlyon business school Executive MBA scored particularly highly in two categories: reaching the top 10 in terms of career development after the course and making the top 20 for CSR. The latter criteria, introduced in 2018, takes into account the proportion of core courses dedicated to ethics, social and environmental issues, along with participants’ involvement with these issues. To produce its rankings, the Financial Times also assesses other aspects, such as the quality of the teaching staff, the international nature of the program, the percentage of women in each intake, and the proportion of those women who go on to reach board level positions.

As a complementary option, participants will have access to a 1 to 2 month on-the-job immersion, monitored by a coach, or to a 5-day module of start-up pre-incubation for those with a business creation project. What if we were able to measure the maturity & willingness of a company to accept change? In other terms, its agility to change? To help it become faster? To increase its life expectancy in a VUCA world? To compare itself with its sector?
What if we were able to measure the maturity & willingness of a company to accept change? In other terms, its agility to change? To help it become faster? To increase its life expectancy in a VUCA world? To compare itself with its sector? Participants from Full-time MBA and Executive MBA (Fast Track) collaborated with Volvo Group during 9 months with the aim of providing an open source tool that can be used by any organization, in any sector, in any country to measure and follow the level agility of an organization. Their background makes our participants uniquely qualified to help organizations for a global economy, providing a perfect perspective right from the start of the project. The ELP allows our participants to: Put their knowledge and experience to work in key areas of interest to organizations at no cost; Get a fresh look at its current activities and future development; Bring an international and experimented view of the company’s projects and use this valuable insight to improve market acceptance in domestic and foreign markets. Furthermore, Action Learning is a process whereby participants work and learn simultaneously by tackling real issues with real consequences. The learners develop competence through action and practical examples, rather than through classical educational methods. We applied this concept to our MBA, because our actual participants are the directors and managers of tomorrow and they need to be fully aware of their future responsibilities. Based on an in-depth study, the group came with a new definition of agility and defined 8 practices gathering qualitative and quantitative KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to measure it inside companies. The new definition ofAgility is a team culture shared by everyone that allows to create value by adapting and anticipating any change in the environment (in a broader sense). In concrete terms, the company has to be able to: make decisions under time constraints and with limited information act in a learning by “doing and testing” approach within the organization as a whole and promptly reallocating firm’s available resources & capabilities accordingly while maintaining enough stability to recover from the (possible) failures on an effectuation mode (“small bets”) This new standard is not made to put a mark on a company but to help it improve its agility in a progressive way. This project will be launched in an open source format, because if you want to measure agility your tools has to be agile. This new standard of agility is incorporated within the framework of Early Makers from emlyon business school and more globally in the actual debate of a freedom-form company. The 31st of May, Nathalie François, Fabrice Beslin, Rafael Guerrero, Sadiq Dewany and Guillaume Bézie invited global companies such as Alstom, Bayer and Vinci and also start-ups from the region of Lyon, to a workshop in emlyon business school. With their sponsors and professor (Christian Friedemann), they realized a beta-test on the tool and gathered new feedback to improve it. These improvements will allow the emergence of a tool more adapted to the needs of all companies and sectors. In a near future, the advent of Big Data will make possibilities endless and will allow us to perfect our vision about agility. The MBA team is looking for new partnership with the aim of developing this project. Companies from all sizes and sectors are invited to submit their application to the project ! I want to support the project Further information I want to support the project Further information 9 months dedicated to the Entrepreneurial Leadership Project 5 MBA participants 2 programs: Executive MBA et Full-time MBA
