The student associations of emlyon business school have confirmed their commitment by signing of the CSR charter, structured common guidelines to orient their actions in 2025. This edition also sees the integration of Global BBA associations, demonstrating a collective mobilization to enhance the positive impact of their various activities and events.

Renewal of the CSR Charter: A Student-Led Movement for Social and Sustainable Transition

The 40 student associations from emlyon business school's Master in Management (Grande École Program) and Global BBA (BBA) have renewed their commitment by signing the CSR charter dedicated to community life. This agreement, previously co-written and adopted by students and the School's Board in 2024, aims to guide the choices and actions of the signatory associations for the year 2025.
As a Mission-Driven Company, emlyon places social and environmental commitment at the heart of all its activities, including education, research, and operations.

The School therefore supports and encourages student associations in this initiative through a collaborative project that formalizes a framework for ecological and social transition. Associations which are committed to measuring their impact are invited to follow key rules defined in the CSR charter:

  • Implement measures to improve their environmental and social impact and present these actions in their annual reports.
  • Carry out a carbon audit of their biggest event or activity over the year
  • Obtain the Ecollab label from NOISE emlyon for at least one major event.
  • Adopt measures to reduce emissions
  • Take part in a 2-tonne workshop and the ‘Diversity and Inclusion in Associative Life' training course for chairpersons, vice-chairpersons or CSR managers of offices
Bénédicte BOST, Director of Social and Environmental Engagement

The renewal of this charter reflects the conviction and seriousness of our students' commitments. Everyone has come together to co-construct this initiative, fostering a student life that is fulfilling, fair, supportive, and respectful of the planet—fully aligned with our status as a mission-driven company.

Following the official signing, the event also provided an opportunity to review key progress made in the previous year:

  • 94% of associations conducted a CSR assessment
  • 104 carbon assessments were carried out
  • More than 20 Ecollab labels were awarded
  • 81% of associations participated in a "2 Tonnes" Workshop

In addition, good practices and initiatives already implemented by some associations were highlighted to inspire further action among their peers, such as:

  • Reducing unnecessary waste: reusable tableware rental by the BDE for the Gala and WEI, elimination of disposable cups during the CheerUp against cancer race.
  • Inclusivity and promotion of women: support for Violette Dorange, the youngest skipper in the Vendée Globe, by the Club Voile; 100% female DJ line-up organized by Radioactive.
  • Impact-driven partnerships: Forum and Astuce open their events to students from disadvantaged high schools, les Gourmets and NOISE join forces to promote Vegetarian Day, and Sup de Coteaux gives preference to organic and local producers.

This renewal reflects the commitment of newly elected student association boards to sustain and strengthen the initiatives launched by their predecessors.
Among the various commitments made by CSR managers, a few examples illustrate the diversity of fields in which associations are involved: creation of an event to raise awareness of digital pollution by PLUG AND PLAY, writing a charter for workplace inclusion of people with disabilities, led by JET, common goals such as reducing event waste, developing partnerships with local and sustainable producers, encouraging the use of eco-friendly transport, and promoting inclusivity awareness.

The BBA Expands Its Student Life with 8 New Associations

For this second edition, eight new BBA student associations have joined the initiative. Following a transition year in 2024 marked by a campus move, a renewal and creation process for student organizations was launched by the Program Management, the Student Life Office, and a dedicated Task Force. The selection process focused on reliability, sustainability, inclusivity, and alignment with the School's values.

These associations join the 30 existing PGE associations and 8 School-wide collectives, covering a wide range of missions and domains:

  • BDE and BDS: Student and sports life coordination
  • BDA: Promotion of culture, heritage, and artistic ambition
  • BDI: Integration and support for international students
  • FINANC'EM: Finance skill development
  • VIATIK: Humanitarian initiatives to support disadvantaged populations in Lyon
  • LA GRAPPE: Education on wine culture and oenology, promoting responsible consumption
Luc MORY, Chairman of the BBA Corporation Board

The 6 new associations and the renewal of the 2 BDE and BDS mandates reflect the vitality and spirit of initiative of the Global BBA student community. Our community life offers each and every one of us the opportunity to flourish, to contribute to student life and to get involved in areas thatwe care about. In 2025, we are building together a dynamic and inclusive ecosystem that is in line with our collective values.

L’engagement sociétal des étudiantes et étudiants d’emlyon s’inscrit au cœur même de leur parcours académique

Otherwise, this signing of this agreement is in line with the start of the 2025 academic year, which saw the launch of the mandates of recently elected associations. These associations benefit from a dedicated onboarding process, including handover sessions, training, and awareness programs, coordinated by the Student Life Office.

The societal commitment of emlyon students is deeply embedded in their academic experience. As an illustration of this ambition, the Responsible Engagement Program, enables PGE students to get involved in volunteer missions of at least 50 hours with partner associations. Designed to raise students' awareness of social and environmental issues and, but above all to involve them in practical ways, this project reflects the School's commitment to combine academic excellence with social responsibility.
